This position will be a key member of American Water’s SAP Center of Excellence within the Technology and Innovation business unit. The Senior Technologist - SAP Security will be responsible for providing application security development for the SAP solution landscape , building and maintaining application security for all modules within the SAP environment and ecosystem.
Technology Roadmap Development
Drive the effort to develop plans that match short-term and long-term business goals with specific technology solutions to help meet those goals. The plan applies to a new product or process or to an emerging technology.
Working with the line of business leaders and industry experts, ensure the plans help 1) reach a consensus about a set of needs and the technologies required to satisfy those needs, 2) provide a mechanism to help forecast technology developments, and 3) provide a framework to help plan and coordinate technology developments. 20%
Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.

Product Owner Support
Support the Head of Technology Enablement/Customer Enablement in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
Engage closely with clients to understand what business objectives they want to accomplish through technology enablement and then work with the Customer Enablement team of developers and designers to bring those ideas to life. 20%
Knowledge / Skills
Strong knowledge of SAP Security authorizations and design concepts for SAP and HANA database.
Working knowledge of SAP functional modules.
Understanding of SAP development concepts.
Knowledge of ITIL standards as well as Sox compliance requirements.
Good understanding of segregation of duties and how that impacts SAP Security design and provisioning.
Sound knowledge of SAP user management and measurement.
Ability to develop SAP security designs and roles based on functional and technical requirements.
Able to proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
Ability to build and contribute to security governance procedures.
Ability to drive technical improvements and operational efficiency through continuous innovation.
Able to create and maintain documentation of security design and governance procedures in accordance with SAP CoE certification requirements.
Ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of authorization related incidents.

Experience / Education
7 plus years of experience in developing and maintaining security for a wide variety of SAP applications and technology components such as SAP CRM, ECC, BI/BW, SRM, GRC, BusinessObjects, NetWeaver Portal, Gateway/Fiori, Solution Manager and HANA.
Experience engaging with internal/external auditors for Sox compliance.
Prior experience working within a certified SAP CoE is desired.
Experience with S/4HANA is a plus.
BS /MS in Computer Science , Computer Applications , Information Technology , Engineering or MBA or with strong academic background.
Licenses & Certifications
ITIL and SAP Certification is desired
