One of the components of SAP includes Materials Management or MM. The logistics functions of a company depend on the management component; in fact it is the foundation for it. Another important component of SAP is the production planning, or PP component. The production planning component is responsible for managing all production processes in a company. Some areas of concern in the production planning area are planning out production, planning for all of the materials that are necessary, the master production scheduling and functions of the shop floor during production of the final products.
All concerns involving the warehouse are considered to be part of the Warehouse Management, or WM, component of the SAP. Managing the inventory in the warehouse and maximizing the storage capabilities in the warehouse are large areas of responsibility. The inbound and outbound traffic in the warehouse can be drastically impacted in this component. The Customer Service, or CS, component involves all customer communications and services.
