About SAP System Analysts

SAP (Systems Applications and Products) is a proprietary ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software platform used by businesses to facilitate and manage the communication between their databases and the end user software applications in use by the employees. As with many other technologies, SAP was initially mainly used in the banking industry before it spread out to the manufacturing industry in later years. However, in recent years, SAP has further tuned their systems as well as diversified their product offering in order to accommodate the small and medium sized enterprises. This shift has been one of the main drivers of the growing demand for SAP skills and consequently leading to more SAP jobs.
There are many different types of SAP jobs available in the job market today. One of these is an SAP system analyst. If you have searched the term SAP job you will undoubtedly have come across advertisement postings for SAP system analysts. These positions are highly sought after as they play platform major inter phasing role in the implementation and smooth running of SAP systems.
The SAP system analysts are in fact business process experts and will work as the intermediary between management and the SAP software developers. Management will for example require that certain functions be incorporated into the organization's SAP implementation. The SAP system analyst will then translate these requirements into technological terms and avail them to the SAP system developers in a way that they can understand and implement.
Other than that, an SAP system analyst's job will involve performing a needs analysis from time to time or project to project. This will ensure that the IT department and SAP software developers understand exactly what management's needs are. The SAP system analyst's role is the SAP job that is tasked to ensure that capacity plans of the SAP system cater for projected future growth.
When the organization is moving from their previous system to SAP, it is the responsibility of SAP jobs such as the SAP system analyst to ensure that the conversion takes place smoothly. This not only means that all the data from the old system must be moved to the new system, but that the transferred data must retain its integrity. This will often involve tests on the data in the newly implemented SAP system to confirm this. At the same time, the system analyst must establish that the data links between the SAP and all other organizational applications that it must interface with are correctly moved to the new setup.
Since the SAP analyst is the business person as far as the technical team is concerned and at the same time the technical person as far as the business (or management) is concerned, he or she will also be required to understand the restrictions that must be integrated into the SAP implementation due to legal and regulatory requirements. Ensuring the system is secure end to end is also another of the role even though it is shared with a number of other SAP jobs.
So, if you are a trained and qualified SAP specialists, this could be the dream job for you. And if you are not trained in SAP, but maybe have hands on project management expertise in the IT field and are interested in becoming an SAP system analyst, you can seek opportunities to work under an SAP system analyst in order to get a feel of what will be expected of you. You can thereafter enroll for SAP classes, and with determination, everything else should fall into place.
